Located in the Nave of St Mary’s church, Nottingham, ‘Flock’ is an ephemeral light installation which playfully dances through a screen of mist and gauze screens. The use of volumetric projection invites the audience to immerse themselves into the work and become part of the artwork.

Based upon Finnish composer Rautavaara’s Swans Migrating, the piece explores ideas of movement and togetherness, in a collaboration between Inspire Youth Arts, Foxwood Academy, Sarah Palmer and Urban Projections.

Content for the piece was formed through a series of co-creation workshops, using printing techniques to gather textures, forms and patterns.

Flock was commissioned by Inspire youth arts for Nottingham Light Night.
