I See You is an engaging mixed-media installation that invites audiences to reflect on the role of technology in shaping our identities and interactions. Created by Urban Projections, this work explores how digital connections have come to intertwine with our lives, often redefining how we perceive ourselves and engage with the world.
In this installation, a series of patterned cubes appear on the street, intriguing passersby with their mysterious, geometric allure. Viewers are encouraged to peer through peepholes in these cubes, revealing an unexpected interior world. Inside, a network of mirrors reflects their image into infinity—an unfiltered, endless self-portrait that contrasts sharply with the often-curated personas we project online.
Rebecca explains the inspiration: “The piece was born from thinking about our online lives, especially how we’re now inclined to form and maintain connections digitally rather than face-to-face. Inside, the mirrors reflect hundreds of versions of yourself—unprocessed, pure, beautiful. On the outside, though, there’s a strange disconnection from reality.”
In a world increasingly mediated by screens and digital personas, I See You poses an essential question: do we use technology to define who we are, or is it technology that ultimately defines us? By juxtaposing infinite self-reflection with external anonymity, this installation invites audiences to engage with these dualities, playfully examining the complexities of identity in the digital age.
